From the moment the news about the update were published on the Google official blog, the main question was, which smartwatches are supporting Wi-Fi feature, and which doesn’t. One day later, we know a bit more.
One of the smartwatches which does not support Wi-Fi is LG G Watch. This watch was launched a year ago, and it has 512MB of RAM, 4 GB storage, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 1.65 inch display, but it doesn’t have Wi-Fi.
At least, the smartwatch will get other features the update brings, such as draw an emoji, always-on apps, and more. Other LG watches, such as Watch Urbane, and G Watch R will support Wi-Fi.
What about other companies?
Sony and Motorola confirmed that both watches, Sony SmartWatch 3, and Moto 360 will support the new Wi-Fi feature. Also, Samsung Gear Live, and Asus ZenWatch have the needed hardware, and they will be able to support Wi-Fi feature.
The Android Wear 5.1 update definitely brings many interesting and fun things which will enhance the entire smartwatch experience.
